KA1776 Limiting Amplifier
Version 1.0.3
10/5/2026
- New inverse INPUT / OUTPUT link (one per unit): the LINK button above the SC HPF knob ties the two knobs together inversely, so turning INPUT up pulls OUTPUT down by the same amount (and vice versa) and the level out stays put while you drive the unit harder. The lines between the knobs show the link; the state is saved with presets and follows CONTROLS link
- New A / B / C / D compare slots in the utility panel, between the preset arrows and OVERSAMPLING. Click a slot to switch to it (the settings you leave are kept in the slot you came from), drag one slot onto another to copy its settings, right-click a slot to clear it. The copy confirmation has a “Don’t show this again” tick; switch it back on in Global Settings (CONFIRMATIONS). Slots are saved with the DAW session
- VU meter: faster GR needle ballistics, so the meter follows fast attack and release settings instead of smearing them
- RELEASE now reaches its fastest 10 ms setting in Normal mode (above 5 the knob previously had no further effect)
- Fixed latency compensation with oversampling on: the plugin reported less latency than it has (2X Linear-Phase reported 18 samples but delays by 49; the default 2X Minimum-Phase reported 1 instead of 3), so a dry or parallel copy of the track played out of phase against it in Pro Tools and other hosts. Every setting now reports its true latency, and Linear-Phase is sample-exact at every rate (4X is now 60 samples)
- Fixed crackling and clicks on sustained material at fast release settings under heavy gain reduction
- Gain-reduction onset in Normal mode is now rate-limited (no single-sample gain jumps on sharp transients)
- Transformer saturation no longer blows up into harsh distortion at very hot input levels (soft ceiling on the saturation drive)
- The window now grows to fit the license, preset browser, Global Settings, manual, update and About panels in the one-unit modes and shrinks back when they close; utility icons no longer float over an open panel
Version 1.0.2
9/23/2026
- Analyzer: the input/threshold view now shows the level actually hitting each unit’s FET (after the INPUT knob, British boost and input filters); the transfer-curve ball follows the same signal. In Serial mode the second unit shows stage 1’s output as driven by its own INPUT knob
- Fixed a Pro Tools “audio processing deadline” error on the first playback after opening a session with oversampling enabled (the oversampler is now built off the audio thread, also when changing the setting during playback)
- Fixed recalled knob positions on the right unit being lost on the first instance loaded in some hosts
Version 1.0.1
7/23/2026
- New Advanced page with per-stage saturation controls (Transformer, Transistor, and Output Amp) for each unit
- Output Amp visualizers: harmonics/drive bar graph plus LF SAT and POWER graphs with draggable handles for LF SAT, RAIL voltage and KNEE
- Rail-voltage clipper on the output amp stage (lower the RAIL onto the level to clip; at 30 V the clipper is bypassed)
- Per-unit Dry/Wet controls
- External sidechain input (mono + stereo) with sidechain on/off toggle
- Sidechain HPF with bypass and bass-weighted detection
- 2X timing modification for each unit
- I/O meters: mouse-wheel scrolling on the trim faders, and click any dB or filter-frequency readout to type an exact value (works in both the expanded and collapsed views)
- Input Trim and Output Trim are now automatable plugin parameters
- I/O meter HPF/LPF filters now process the wet path only, so the MIX control’s dry signal stays unfiltered
- Fixed incorrect latency reporting when oversampling is enabled.
- Fixed aliasing with fast attack settings
- Fixed sidechain detector instability that could cause low-frequency motorboating on sustained material
- Fixed meter and label text rendering on macOS (text no longer truncates)
