Magnetic tape is known for imparting warmth and bottom-end girth to a signal. Chocolate Milk does exactly that, using adjustable waveshaping algorithms to give you more control of low-end saturation. But it goes beyond that.
Analog tape also clips transients, and that takes away punch and clarity—we didn't want that. Our Chocolate Milk puts the squeeze on the midrange using a clean compression algorithm with adjustable attack and release to get compression without clipping the signal. With Chocolate Milk you can punch it up like a boss.
In the old days, engineers would tweak tape deck electronics to sweeten the high end. It sounded good, but it was difficult to do and limited. With Chocolate Milk, you can easily get glossy highs, and far more effectively.

Chocolate Milk is essential. I recently put it on a rough mix which I liked for its musical content, but this rough had a certain boxiness and upper midrange "pain factor." In a couple of minutes I turned the rawest punk rock live show cassette into smooth makeout music. well, in terms of spectral balance at least. In the case of my rough, it now sounds a lot more like music!
I didn’t want to make another tape emulation... that road is well traveled. What I DID want was something that gave me the vibe — warmth, compression, sparkle — but without being bound to the physics of analog tape. Just the good stuff. The result just made things sound better. More musical. So I kept using it. Even after a year of tinkering, it still hasn’t worn off.
I love Chocolate Milk! It has not left my bass chain since I tried it. It gives a glue-like tape saturation and compression without taking anything away - like Hi-Fi Tape. With no latency it’s on my live bass rig as well, and that Froth knob on slaps and pops is salted butter .
how does it work?
Low Band
Saturation
MOO is a proprietary waveshaping process that adds harmonics that thicken and add definition to the low-end. Because the effect is applied only to the lows, you get control and enhancement without artifacts. The result is a rich, MOOsical bottom end.
Mid Band
Compression
SQUISH is a fully adjustable compressor that works strictly on the midrange, between the MOO and the FROTH. Get punch and sustain without touching the lows or crimping the highs.
High Band
Sparkle
FROTH recreates a vintage Baxandall EQ through precise analog modeling, solving the circuit in real time. It delivers silky, natural high-end enhancements—adding air and gloss without introducing any harshness.
